During the regular meeting of Town of Pincher Creek council Monday, January 11, 2016 council discussed a delegation made by Judy Mackintosh on behalf of the South Country Trappers Association (SCTA) made on December 14, 2015. Mackintosh explained the Alberta 2016 'Rendezvous by the Creek' was a province wide event which will be hosted by the local SCTA at the Pincher Creek Community Hall and surrounding area on July 1 and 2, 2016. The Alberta Trappers Association sees this event as one which 'Brings together trappers, wildlife specialists, law enforcement, industry suppliers and the general public for a fun and family oriented event during the summer'.
Mackintosh said they expect approximately 700 people to come to the dinner event, with more attending various programming throughout the weekend from Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. She told council platinum sponsorship of the event is valued at $5,000 and there are other levels of sponsorship available. Council decided to accept the presentation as information. The Town offers in-kind support at this time, and Mayor Don Anderberg wanted to find out more of the event itself and the programming before council commits to a monetary amount.
