Foothills MP John Barlow elected as vice-chair of Natural Resources Committee

press release

Today, John Barlow, Member of Parliament for Foothills and Official Opposition Deputy Critic of Employment, Workforce and Labour was elected as vice-chair of the Natural Resources Committee.

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources may examine issues related to the four industrial sectors that constitute the mandate of the Department of Natural Resources (NRCan): the energy sector, the forest sector, the minerals and metals sector and the earth sciences sector. More specifically, the Committee focuses on bills, expenditures and activities of the organizations that are part of the Natural Resources portfolio.

“I am extremely pleased with this appointment and to have the support of my colleagues on the committee,” said Foothills MP John Barlow. “Canada is rich in natural resources and they are absolutely vital to our economy. Nowhere is that more apparent than Alberta where our diverse economy includes industries such as oil and gas, forestry and mining. The prosperity of our province, from downtown Calgary and Edmonton to our rural communities, relies on these resources and I am proud to be able to have another opportunity to be a strong voice for Alberta, and for Foothills.”
