Livingstone Range School Division announces 2016/17 administrative appointments

Livingstone Range School Division No. 68 is pleased to announce the following administrator positions effective with the 2016-2017 school year.

Principal Matthew Halton High School

Ms. Tara Tanner

Ms. Tara Tanner has been appointed Principal of Matthew Halton High School commencing with the 2016-2017 school year. She received her Bachelor of Education in 1998 from the University of Saskatchewan and her Master of Education in 2009 from the University of Alberta. Ms. Tanner joined the staff of Matthew Halton High School in 2011 and was appointed Assistant Principal in 2012. Prior to her appointment in Pincher Creek, she was employed by Chinook School Division as a teacher at Swift Current Comprehensive High School for ten years and, subsequently as Vice Principal at Central Elementary in Swift Current. Ms. Tanner has had many leadership experiences at the secondary level including being an instructional leader for a science department, creating a literacy curriculum, developing a resource guide for Grade 10 students and serving as a learning resource teacher.

While at Matthew Halton High School, Ms. Tanner has served as their Learning Support Teacher, Assistant Principal and most recently Acting Principal. Additionally, she has been instrumental in various divisional committees such as Instructional Council and the Literacy Committee.

Ms. Tanner’s strong work ethic and her previous experiences will serve us well in her appointment of Principal.

Principal Granum School

Ms. Jacqueline Kark

Ms. Jacqueline Kark has been appointed Principal of Granum School effective August 29, 2016. She received her Bachelor of Education in 2002 from the University of Alberta with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Business Technology; her Masters of Secondary Education from the University of Alberta in 2009 and is currently attending Athabasca University towards a Diploma in Inclusive Education. Since 2002 Ms. Kark has taught at Elk Island Public Schools, Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools and most recently at High Prairie School Division where she has held the position of Vice Principal/Learning Support Teacher and currently Principal for a Grades K-12 school.

Ms. Kark’s strong background in developing literacy and numeracy skills as well as her passion of working collaboratively to improve student learning will serve Granum students very well.
We welcome Ms. Kark to Livingstone Range School Division.

Assistant Principal, Canyon School

Ms. Jessica Rumer

Ms. Jessica Rumer has been appointed Assistant Principal of Canyon School effective with the 2016-2017 school year. Ms. Rumer started her teaching career in 2000, spending one year teaching English in the Republic of Korea before returning to Lethbridge when she joined EIBI as a Behavioral Therapist and subsequently a Learning Support Teacher for G.S. Lakie Middle School, Vice Principal for Fort McMurray Public School, Vice Principal and most recently Principal for the Lethbridge Public School District.

Having received her Bachelor or Management, International, University of

Lethbridge in 2000, Ms. Rumer continued her studies at the UofL receiving her Bachelor of Education in 2004 in Career & Technology Studies, with a major in Special Education Specialization, and her Master of Education in 2010.

With her passion in ensuring the needs of students are met, as well as her knowledge and ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues and the community to help make educational experiences engaging, meaningful and successful, we are confident Ms. Rumer will be a great asset to our division.
