Win and a loss for Hawks baseball team

Josh Davis

On Thursday April 28 the Halton Hawks baseball team hosted the FP Walshe Flyers at Sproule Field in Pincher Creek. The Hawks were returning to home field after a 22-19 away win on Tuesday game against the Willow Creek Cobras. The Hawks didn’t have their heads in the game, and were defeated by the Flyers 11-7.

“We didn’t give it our best today,” said Assistant Coach Tristan Doell of their performance. “We weren’t there for the first five innings, so it really showed on the scoreboard. We’ve just got to show more heart. They’ve just got to be more alert. They’ve gotta try a lot harder. They’ve gotta help their teammates out. And they’ve gotta start swinging the bat more.” Doell said that the team didn’t give it their best on the field. “We’ve seen this team produce. They’re a very good ball club when they’re there, but tonight just wasn’t our night.” Doell said that it got a little better in the last inning, but that it was too little too late. Doell said he thinks they can beat Picture Butte in their upcoming game, but that his team has to do their best.
