Who is your favorite person to talk to?

Chris Ney - So, Who is your most favorite person in the world to talk to? Is it your spouse, is it your kids, parents, friends, only you can answer that. I wonder though why is it we have our favorites? There can be a couple reasons, they listen, they hear you, they are helpful, but mostly I think and studies have been done that would tell us we often have our favorite person to talk to primarily because they are safe. They will not get mad, they will not jump in, they will offer to help only when needed and they have proven over time that they are reliable. They are trustworthy to keep things said confidential and private, they will not gossip, and you know they love you.

It is hard to find a friend like that, so if you have one hang on to them and remember to listen as well. However, what if you don’t have one, and you really need a friend to hear you. What then do you do? Some people talk to themselves, some people talk to things, some people just talk to everyone, and some people have a friend that is always there no matter what that actually hears us and answers us when needed. Jesus is that friend, and I know what you are thinking, here he goes again talking about Jesus will he never give up (hmmm no I wont) but hear me out. I always struggled growing up and in hard times to find a friend so true and trustworthy like I have found in Jesus. Jesus is always there, He is always listening, and He always answers with just what I need. It is not always what I want but it is always what I need. It is called prayer, and it is the most important thing we can do in our lives. Prayer is not between you and some man, it is direct conversation with Jesus Himself, how amazing, how awesome is it that we can talk right to God. The very one who created everything around us loves us so much that He opened the door to talk to Him by the death and resurrection of Jesus. 1 Tim 2:5 “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” God is all His wonder has opened up the door and is ready for us to call out to Him. He is a good good father, Healer, Redeemer, and Savior.

The sad reality though is that we do not take advantage of this very often at all, now I’m not saying we should ask God about whether or not I should brush my teeth or walk the dog, but have every right in Christ to go to Him for anything. The catch is though we need to know Him, we need to have a relationship with Him, there is times where He chooses to answer prayers for those who don’t know Him and that is called grace, but for the most part He wants us to know Him, and ask Him. Do you know Him? If you do are you really praying to Him? Are you asking Jesus for the answers or are we trying to do things in our own power. I have been there and if I’m honest there are still times I do this in my own strength, it doesn’t work.

God opened up this channel so He could show us how much He cares and how much He loves us. Who wouldn’t want that, a friend who is always there, always listening and has only your best interest a heart? It just amazes me all the time. That He would demonstrate His love over and over again to people who just don’t care. In that He does care and Jesus wants you to know Him personally, He wants you to know the heights and depths of His love. Do you know Him? If the answer is NO then maybe now is the time to know Jesus in this way.

Romans 10:9 “ because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”

God loves you right where you are at, where ever you are reading this, He is calling to you right now to turn from the world and confess Him as Lord, ask Him for forgiveness, trust by faith Jesus was raised from the grave and you will be FREE, free from the consequences of all our wrongs, free from the penalty of it all because you have put your faith in Jesus who is the one who paid it all for you and for me. If you are looking for a home, a family, I would like to invite you to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30am at Vertical Church, all are welcome and come as you are!!

He loves you and we love you

You are Loved
