Senior leadership change at Livingstone Range School Division

Livingstone Range School Division - Livingstone Range School Division would like to take the opportunity to announce a change in senior administration. Mr. Dave Driscoll, Superintendent, will be leaving the Division to take on the role of Superintendent for Palliser Regional Schools, effective October 1, 2017.

“It is with a mixture of sadness and anticipation that I leave Livingstone Range to pursue this new opportunity with Palliser,” says Driscoll. “My four years with the Division have been very rewarding, and I’ve had the good fortune to work with a great team of people. I’m proud of all the work we’ve done together, and I know they’ll continue to meet the needs of our students in skillful and innovative ways, implementing best practices in the field of public education.”

Board Chair Brad Toone says that, going forward, the Board will build in consultation with LRSD stakeholders and Division staff regarding the desired traits and experience of the next superintendent.

“The Board would like to thank Dave for his time with the Division and all the projects and initiatives that were successfully implemented under his leadership,” says Toone. “He has supported many new and innovative programs, and has established or filled several key positions within LRSD. I feel like we’re in a really good position right now with a full complement of highly skilled people.”

LRSD Board of Trustees has been in consultation with facilitators from the Alberta School Boards Association to begin the process of appointing an acting superintendent while the search for a new person begins. The Board has selected Mr. Darryl Seguin, current Deputy Superintendent, to fulfill the role of acting superintendent while the search for a permanent candidate takes place, and has petitioned the Minister of Education to approve the appointment.

Mr. Seguin has 24 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, school principal, associate superintendent and deputy superintendent. His broad administrative experience spans over 18 years as school principal in three different jurisdictions, and at all grade levels. He is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge where he earned both his Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (Educational Leadership and Administration) degrees. He recently completed a Human Resource Management Certificate from the University of Calgary.

Seguin joined LRSD in 2005 as principal of G.R. Davis School in Fort Macleod and, for the past five years, has served in the Division’s central office, most recently overseeing human resources, career programs, career and technology studies, technology, teacher mentorship and the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Education initiatives.

Seguin is looking forward to working with the Division in his new role as acting superintendent.

“Livingstone Range School Division is a great place to work and receive an education,” says Seguin. “Our students have many opportunities and experiences as a result of hard-working staff and great leadership by the Board of Trustees. I look forward to working more closely with the Board to effectively serve students in caring, innovative and student-centered schools. I am honoured to take on this important leadership role within Livingstone Range School Division.”
