To host an event as large and dynamic as the Southern Alberta Southern Games 2014 you have to plan ahead. Recreation Manager Diane Burt-Stuckey is asking that all the sports involved look critically at their venues and equipment to help plan if upgrades or replacements are required before Pincher Creek hosts the event.

A planning meeting on April 8 at Town hall for the games had nine people in attendance bringing their experience to the table. Some of the questions that came out of the meeting included:
Will there be ribbons or medals awarded to the winners? Will there be a games logo design contest? Who pays for the cost of new equipment? When to book referees and umpires?

There was a great deal of excitement because Jesse Newman of Rose Creek Ranch has stepped up to chair archery, with plans for a 3D archery event.

Volunteers are needed from every aspect from sports chairs to running individual concessions. If you would like to become involved call the Town of Pincher Creek Recreation Office at 403-627-4322
